When I created my online backpacking program for women, The Confident Solo Female Backpacker System at the beginning of 2022, I had no idea the kind of positive influence I’d have on women’s lives.

In October of this year, I took a group of students from The Confident Solo Female Backpacker System out on trail in the North Cascades here in Washington for both a day hike and a 3 day/2 night overnight backpacking trip. Not only did these women have a chance to apply everything they’ve learned in the program out on trail, but we got to meet each other in-person and enjoy some serious female bonding together doing what we all love: hiking and backpacking. It was like I had known these women all my life.

The idea of creating an online backpacking program was something that had been floating around in my head since I finished my solo thru-hike on the Pacific Crest Trail back in 2018. I’d think about it and then I’d talk myself out of it. A big reason was Imposter Syndrome: who was I, a former PCT thru-hiker, avid Pacific Northwest day hiker and The Hungry Hiker on YouTube, to create an online backpacking program for women? I mean, it’s not like I grew up backpacking.

What I do know is that I left to solo hike the Pacific Crest Trail in 2018 and since my first thru-hike, I’ve spent a lot of time planning and preparing for hiking hundreds of miles out on trail as a long-distance backpacker including:

Most of which I’ve hiked solo.

With each of these trips, I’ve had to plan trip logistics of getting to and from each of the trailheads, navigate my way along the trails, prepare and pack my food, figure out the gear I’d need for each trip and train my mind and body to be able to hike all of the miles with a loaded pack.

I’ve also had to learn how to not let my fears get the best of me and hold me back from whatever it is I wanted to do. I’ve learned how to be more comfortable and confident with traveling solo in the backcountry. And most importantly, I’ve learned how to not talk myself out of getting to the trailhead.

So yes, I finally realized that I was plenty qualified to create an online backpacking program for women. I just had to get out of my own way and create the program.

The Confident Solo Female Backpacker System is a comprehensive, self-paced online backpacking program for women, designed to help women go from feeling scared and intimidated about backpacking alone to feeling comfortable with planning their own adventures so that they can feel confident getting out on trail for either their first or next solo backpacking trip.

My ultimate goal with creating The Confident Solo Female Backpacker System is to help inspire more women to want to be out on trail, and feel safe and comfortable doing so, whether it’s for a day hike or an overnight backpacking trip. I’ve ultimately created the online backpacking program I wish I had when I first started hiking and backpacking.

When I originally created this program, I had no idea the kind of positive influence I’d have on women’s lives. Since launching The Confident Solo Female Backpacker System, I’ve been able to help motivate a number of women to plan, prepare and go on overnight backpacking trips of their own.

What I didn’t anticipate was creating an incredible community of likeminded women as a result of putting together a program like this.

Within The Confident Solo Female Backpacker System, students are not only planning and going on solo adventures of their own, but they’re also motivating and inspiring each other to want to achieve their backpacking goals.

Even if solo backpacking isn’t at the top of your backpacking goal list, The Confident Solo Female Backpacker System is for ANY WOMAN who wants to learn how to feel more comfortable and confident:

  • Going out on trail alone for either a day hike or overnight backpacking trip
  • Taking a more leadership role with planning group trips out into the backcountry
  • Bringing their children and family members out on trail for day hikes and overnight backpacking adventures

Students in the program become a part of a community of other likeminded women hikers and backpackers that help inspire and motivate one another AND might even meet friends to plan future trips with!

Plus, students in the program become a part of a community of other likeminded women hikers and backpackers who help inspire and motivate one another. Many of the students have built friendships with one another, whom they’ve met through the program and have been planning and going on hiking and backpacking trips with one another.
